ALLOTMENT LATEST: We have taken a break from running the allotment to concentrate on our link schools. Nash College are currently maintaining our plot.
History:
Since Adam prepared this work the Allotment has been developed by Nash College to enable wheelchair access. It is managed by both schools but Nash has a member of staff who works there each week to keep it tidy. Watch this space for more details...
The Bromley Garden Project have an Allotment
Summary:
(For those of you who don’t know what one is an allotment is a big area of land in towns in Britain that is split up into lots of little gardens. Lots of people have gardens and they grow fruit and vegetables and flowers.)
Glebe school has an allotment in Hayes near Bromley in South East England called Bourne Vale Allotment (see the maps). I measured the allotment area and it is about 10mx10m.
Glebe school also has another school to help them look after the allotment and that school is Nash College. Most of the students at Glebe school aren’t physically disabled but they might need help with reading and writing. The Nash students are mainly physically disabled and some are in wheelchairs.
Our allotment is for all students and staff but it is mainly looked after by the older students in their geography lessons. When we are there we get to know some of the other allotment users as well.
